Carl Schurz Park

Down by the waterfront, Yorkville has a really nice park. Carl Schurz Park runs from 84th st to 90th st along the East River. It has a litlte bit of something for everyone:
* A riverfront esplenade with plenty of room for jogging and casual strolling
* Basketball court
* A very large playground for kids
* Dog play areas for canines large and small
* Gracie Mansion, the official New York City mayor's residence

Some photos from the park in March:

It's nice to see Carl Schurz Park after all these years. Ther park was a great release from the neighborhood during the summer and sometimes during the winter had its moments.

I used to love Carl Schurz park when I was a little girl my mother worked at Doctors Hospital and I always thought it was a great park.I even moved from 78 to 86 to be closer to it. But after a hideous incident with an out of control park police officer( pep)I no longer go in. Be aware if you are female and have a dog they will try to fine you for the smallest transgression- it is a way to fill the city coffers and Commissioner Benepe has given these officers way too much power.Unfortunately these officers are bullies and marginal people to begin with so be very cautious. This is also true in Riverside Park.I can't wait to move my nasty encounter with the park police ruined the beauty of the park for me.
